NoRey are not a stylized band to fit in with a specific short lived scene or style, they are a band that will continue to be open minded and develop into wherever their creativity take them - indeed the only bands to ever achieve longevity throughout the years have been able to keep their sound progressing and fresh whilst still holding their own style.
Coming together from many corners of the world, over the years NoRey have developed a unique sound that reflects the diversity of the bands members. With an eclectic mix of cultural ideas and influences - NoRey's music spans a wide range of genres whilst still holding a singular personalized style.
Centered in Seattle, Washington - NoRey are proving themselves as a powerful emerging presence in the northwest music scene by gaining airplay on KEXP (Seattles most popular alternative radio station) along with performing at such prestigious venues as Neumos and Chop Suey along with sets at the North West Folklife Festival in 2010 & 2011. Focusing on energetic and engaging live performances, NoRey have developed a strong supporting fan base over the years and will continue in their endeavor to provide new dynamics and interest for their ever expanding audience.
NoRey recorded their debut album 'One Of These Days' in 2009 produced by Bubba Jones at Critical Sun Records in Snohomish WA. The 12 track album features 'a series of hypnotic, rhythmic, and intoxicating melodies' and has become the foundation for their live set over the past few years. The band re-entered the studio with Bubba Jones in 2011 to create a new E.P comprised of 5 tracks with an intention to promote the songs 'Just Like You' & 'On Our Way' via music video's, airplay & street advertising (the 'NoRey Owl' poster design has become a recognizable signiture of the band in Vancouver & Seattle). NoRey have been a successful self promoted band and are looking for support to further their ambition at becoming an international act.
The best parts of five other, lesser bands have broken free and come together to form one really good band. It’s called Sweet Secrets, and mankind is finally safe.
The bass player has a goth-mambo background, the drummer is a dirty punk, the violinist is a dirty classicist, and the guitar player is an extreme bow-hunter. When called upon they assemble as a giant robot, with Roger Lloyd, the bald and bug-eyed singer, as the head (or tail, depending).
Interlocking with simple precision and driving intensity, the songs are a revelation of converging influences. It’s glam-prog with a deep love of the FM band. It’s epic disco with face-melting solos. It’s music for smart, sexy people like you.
Sweet Secrets are Roger Lloyd (vocals, guitar), Eleni Romano (vocals), Corrina MacFarlane (violin), Eric Severtson (guitar), Logan Bender (bass) and Corey Knafelz (drums).
The Volcano Diary is an electro-acoustic band fronted by Seattle singer Alicia Dara. Members include guitarist Gus Palaskas. and drummer Dave Bush.
